Pediatric Oncologist: Tanner

About 12.5% of all children that are diagnosed with a form of cancer will die in the USA.  It's a sad thing that these children who have hardly even lived a life will have it ended by a disease that doctors across the world struggle to beat.  That's why there are professions such as Pediatric Oncology.  To find a permanent cure for the leading cause of death of children.  Devoted to saving a child’s life and giving them hope for the future.  We all don't like hearing the death of a child.  It hurts us emotionally.  It penetrates deep down and grabs hold of your heart. Squeezing until your weeping waterfalls.  So why not do something about it?  Saving a child's life is the best gift of all.
Because when you see those children, it breaks your heart.  I've been in the hematology/oncology department of a hospital and have seen these children wheeled across the hospital with a mask on and a parent clinging to death to the gurney.  It's a sight to see.  A horrible one to be honest.  One to never forget and one to change your life forever.  So by the end of my speech, I hope to have you just as hyped up as I am to end child cancer.   Every job comes with its pros and cons but a Pediatric Oncologist pros far outweighs its cons.  For reasons such as making a good dollars wage, making a difference for others, and performing acts of miracles.   And that's worth more than anything.
After the years of school, a Pediatric Oncologist is payed heavy check in the eyes of most citizens.  Up to $250,000 depending on how well you do in your field.  More than enough to have a happy life with your family.  Never having to worry about the threat of fearing the bill and stretching the check.  But being a Pediatric Oncologist is so much more than just a big dollar check.  It's the giving of life.  As stated in many articles about the life in Pediatric Oncology,  its the difference they make that makes them so devoted to beating cancer.  Not the money, but the children.  Because Pediatric Oncologists do everything in their power to stop cancer and to give a child a chance to live.  Pediatric Oncologists share the same vision with St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital lives by, that “no child should die in the dawn of life”.
Even though, becoming a Pediatric Oncologist is no walk in the park.  It requires years of devotion and determination to study everything there is to know about cancer.  Many people may complain about the work.  Making a difference doesn't come easy.  Sometimes you have to struggle to experience something great.  And it's worth it all in the end, no doubt.
To sum up what I’ve said, if you want to make a difference, be a Pediatric Oncologist.  Besides the money you make, there is so much joy to be found in this field.  To be alongside the child as you fight the battle to end cancer.  And to see the smile when they have won is worth so much.
