Psychology

Today, I will discuss with you the career of a criminal psychologist. Criminal Psychology is the twisted, dark side of the study of the human mind. A criminal psychologist studies the behaviors and mindsets of criminals. They get to access the motive of the criminal to commit a crime. Just think about being in the mind of a criminal and creating the connections between the crime and the committer. It is like a puzzle. As a criminologist, you get to solve this intricate puzzle. Finding the criminal’s reasoning can help the criminal get help and dismiss the urge to commit a felony. You get to the source to help the criminal turn their life around. In order to be a criminal psychologist, there are a certain set of skills you need to acquire. You need to be able to think critically, be educated on mental health, and have good writing skills. You also need to be prepared to deal with disturbing situations and potentially appear in court. You will learn these needed skills once you get the required education for criminal psychology. You will need a bachelor degree in psychology. You will also be required to get a master’s or doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology. Depending on the level of your degree, your salary may change. A criminal psychologist annually earns approximately $61,000. You get paid to navigate  the twisty, mysterious tunnels of a criminal’s brain. Once you receive the required education, you can join the work field in the local, state, or federal government. Some criminal psychologist are also hired privately on a specific profile case. As a criminologist, you will specialize in different areas such as being a criminal profiler, an expert witness in court, a negotiator in crisis, a victim counselor, and an observer of witness and suspect behavior. This career allows you to explore the human thought process and understand their motives. As a criminal psychologist you can make the world a better place by understanding the criminal mind.
